The Global Energy Show is taking over Calgary this week. The province and companies says Alberta is here to meet the needs of global energy demand, whether it be oil, natural gas, or hydrocarbons.
“Not only does Alberta have the majority of oil and gas natural reserves, we are also Canada’s largest hydrogen producer and user with the ability to make some of the lowest cost clean hydrogen in the world,” Premier Danielle Smith said Monday.
The province has one clear message at this year’s Global Energy Conference: It’s not all about oil and gas.
Energy Minister Brian Jeans says Alberta wants to let the world know it’s a leader in all things natural resources.
“We are the fourth largest oil reserve we have one of the largest natural gas reserves, we have world class lithium deposits, we have so many things here in Alberta that the rest of the world needs and wants and has actually listed as precious minerals,” he said. “The demand for energy is going to remain strong and the opportunity for Alberta and Albertan companies is tremendous.”
The Global Energy Show is the first event at the BMO Centre’s expansion facility at Stampede Park and is expected to attract 30,000 attendees.
“We have people from across Canada but also registration from more than 100 countries that have come here to Canada and here into Calgary to find out what is going on in Canada’s energy sector,” said Nick Samain, senior VP, DMG Events.
The event also includes over 600 exhibiting companies.
“It’s the only energy conference in north America that truly represents the entire spectrum,” Samain added.
