A frost advisory has been issued for Calgary on Friday ahead of an overnight cool down.
Environment Canada issued the advisory with temperatures expected to hit 0 C in the early morning hours on Saturday.
“Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees,” reads the advisory.
“Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.”
The weather agency expects temperatures in the city to reach the freezing mark around 6 a.m. Saturday before rising to a high of 16 C in the afternoon. A high of 19 C is expected on Sunday.
The risk of a frost is not a sign of things to come in the short term as it’s only expected to get warmer further into next week.
Environment Canada is calling for a high of 20 C on Monday before a return to mid-summer temps on Tuesday (27 C) and Wednesday (29 C).
