A major crash has shut down Highway 1 east of Calgary on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 817 in Strathmore around 1:30 p.m.
A caller to the 660 News Radio newsroom who went by the crash scene shortly after it happened described several emergency vehicles, lots of smoke, and at least one badly burnt vehicle.
There is no word yet on any injuries.
RCMP tell CityNews they expect to be on scene for some time.
The intersection is closed in all directions.
