Former Justice Minister Kaycee Madu will go before the Law Society of Alberta Monday for the first day of his conduct hearing.
In March 2021, Madu was given a $300 ticket for distracted driving, alleging the politician had his phone in his hand while driving in a school zone.
The minister then called Edmonton Police Chief Dale McFee to discuss the ticket.

Madu claimed he did so over concerns of racial profiling and surveillance of politicians.
However, an independent report found Madu attempted to interfere with the administration of justice – but that the conversation fell short of actual interference.
Madu was then removed as justice minister.
The virtual hearing is expected to go until Wednesday.
