Whether it was back-to-school laundry and showers or above seasonal temperatures on Labour Day, water use in Calgary increased on Monday.
City data shows Calgarians used 505 million litres yesterday, up from 473 million litres on Sunday, and 475 million litres on Saturday.
The target amount of use, as set out by city officials, is 450 million litres. Usage hasn’t reached that amount since Stage 4 water restrictions were re-introduced more than a week ago.
The city has warned multiple times the risk associated with using too much water — an extended city-wide boil water advisory.
Restrictions on outdoor water use and the request to reduce indoor water usage by 25 per cent are expected to last until Sept. 23
City officials are expected to give an update at 2 p.m.
