The City of Calgary is under a severe thunderstorm watch Friday afternoon.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued the alert just before noon, saying a thunderstorm is expected to develop this afternoon and will move east slowly throughout the day.
Some of the storms could create strong winds, damaging hail, and heavy rain.
Large hail is also a possibility, which can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles, and cause serious injury.
ECCC says severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, or torrential rainfall.
