Calgary police charge man in handful of business robberies

Calgary police have charged a man in several commercial robberies that happened earlier this month.

On Monday, July 15, around 4:30 p.m., officers were called to the Shaganappi Village Shopping Centre at 4625 Varsity Drive NW, for reports of a business robbery.

Investigators believe the suspect went into a business and demanded cash, but left before he got any money.

Following the investigation, officers believe the same suspect was also responsible for three other robberies that happened in the same plaza and another robbery that happened at a business in Montgomery.

In those cases, the suspect also went into each business and demanded money and left each business with an undisclosed amount of money.

On Tuesday, police found and arrested the suspect in southeast Calgary.

Mark Anthony Kotsos has been charged with six counts of robbery.

The 57-year-old Calgarian is set to appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
