A Calgary man is facing several charges in connection to a firearms investigation that began earlier this year.

Police say on Wednesday, July 24 around 5:15 p.m., a person was walking along a trail south of Canada Olympic Park and found a loaded handgun and a cellphone. The person called police who attended the scene and seized the items.

An investigation began, and police determined the items belonged to a man who they believed was in possession of several other guns.

During the searches police found a number of items, including a loaded Glock 26, a loaded SKS rifle, an Aero Survival rifle, a Keltec Sub 2000 rifle, a prohibited 100-round drum magazine, an extended, prohibited unpinned magazine, shoulder holsters, ammunition, spent ammunition, cellphones, and almost $5,000 in cash.

The suspect and a woman associated with him were found in one of the homes and arrested.

Naithen Joseph Foster, 31, is now charged with possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been altered, reckless discharge of a firearm, two counts of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device, two counts of unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm obtained by crime.
