A Calgary man is facing several child pornography charges after allegedly luring and extorting a teenage girl.
Calgary police investigators say the man started talking to a 16-year-old girl through Instagram direct messages between May and June of this year.
It is alleged the man lured the girl into sharing nude photos in exchange for money. The girl later found out the photos were posted online without her consent.
The victim asked the man to take down the photos, and police say he refused to do so unless she gave him more nude images or had sex with him. The girl then reported the incident to police.
On Aug. 8, police searched a home in the Southview community in southeast Calgary and seized a number electronic devices.
Curtis Tyson Chalk, 29, is facing several charges including extortion, child luring, and making, accessing, and possessing child pornography.
The accuses will remain in police custody until a court appearance on Wednesday.
Anyone with further information is being urged to contact Calgary Police Service (CPS).
