A man is facing charges after a young girl was sexually assaulted in Fish Creek Park two months ago.
Calgary police say the incident occurred when a 7-year-old girl was with her mother at a swimming area in the park called the Ice Caves on Aug. 1.
It is alleged a stranger sexually assaulted the girl while she was swimming in a creek. The girl’s mother was sitting on the bank with several other families at the time.
Investigators say the girl told her mother what happened while the pair were leaving the park, and the mother immediately called police.
Police have charged 38-year-old Aaron Michael Bolton with sexual assault and sexual interference with a child.
He will appear in court on Oct. 22.
