Calgary mailing out property tax bills over next 2 weeks

Calgary homeowners should expect to get their property tax bills in the mail at some point over the next two weeks.

The city says around 570,000 bills for both residential and non-residential properties started going out Monday.

By June 7, all property owners should have received their bill in the mail. Anyone who hasn’t is being asked to contact 311.

Property taxes are due by June 28 and there’s a late payment penalty of seven per cent on anything that is unpaid on July 1. The city warns the penalty will apply to owners who did not get their bill in the mail.

The due date does not apply to Calgarians who pay their property taxes via monthly installments, which the city says is more than 310,000 property owners. More information on how to join the monthly instalment plan can be found here.

Funds collected through property taxes are split between the city and province. Homeowners can get a breakdown of how their property tax is disbursed on the city’s website.
