Calgary fire crews responded to a grass fire that took wind south of the Calgary Parkland community Saturday evening.
District 6 Fire Chief, Dan Sowerby says it happened on Saturday at around 7 p.m.
He says the grass fire was about the size of a football field.
“So, fortunately, this was a tricky fire, because of the terrain [and] getting access down into the park,” Sowerby told CityNews. “With the wind conditions we have, high winds tonight moved the fire quite quickly.”
“But fortunately, we had a lot of rain in the last few days, and that made it a lot easier on firefighters.”
He also says that although the fire was in a hard area to reach, the Calgary Fire Department has specialized equipment to deal with any situation.
