The provincial government is asking Albertans to avoid fishing in rivers, creeks and streams due to the heat and low water levels.
My Alberta Wildlife announced province-wide angling advisory for low flows, low water levels and high temperatures Thursday.
“These conditions can cause stress to fish. To help protect our fisheries, an angling advisory is now in place for all flowing and non-flowing waters in Alberta,” My Alberta Wildlife said in a news release.
Anglers are advised to fish only in stocked ponds and lakes. They are asked to fish early in the morning when temperatures are cooler, use single point, single hook lures or flies, keep fish wet at all times, and minimize handling time.
