Fill up your water bottle and lace up your runners for a good cause!
The Terry Fox Run is happening at the Confluence, formerly known as Fort Calgary, this Sunday morning.
The 44th annual event will have runners touring around St. Patrick’s Island.
Every year, the event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation in support of nationwide cancer research.
Jonathan Moser, co-chair of the Terry Fox Run, is expecting to see about 2,000 participants, and he’s aiming to raise $300,000 with the hopes that it will be a record-breaking year.
“No cost to come down and participate and learn about the legacy of Terry Fox and to help keep his marathon of hope alive,” he told 660 NewsRadio.
“Because of our efforts last year, we were second in the country in terms of contributions, so we are hoping to at least maintain that.”
And looks like Calgary donated and showed its support, as the site shows $316,076 has been raised. Every dollar goes towards the Terry Fox Foundation in support of cancer research.
The Terry Fox run is free to participate, and registration starts at 9 a.m. while the run is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
