2 teens dead, 5 injured, in single-vehicle crash in Consort: RCMP

Mounties say two youths aged 17 and 19 were killed when a truck rolled over in the Village of Consort northeast of Calgary Sunday.

Coronation RCMP say they responded to the single-vehicle crash that happened on Township Road 353 at around 1 a.m.

Officers say the truck lost control and rolled with seven teens onboard. Alcohol is believed to be involved.

“A preliminary investigation suggests that they were leaving a get-together and they had been drinking,” RCMP Cst. Cory Riggs told 660 NewsRadio.

The two teens killed, both from Consort, were 17 and 19.

Riggs says the teens who survived are between the ages of 16 and 19 and were taken to hospital with various injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing and an update is expected at a later date.

Coronation RCMP offered condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of teens, saying this is a “profound loss of life for the family, and the community as a whole.”
