A man in his 40s is facing more than a dozen charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a teen girl during a series of “out of control” parties in Lethbridge.
Lethbridge police say officers were called to a west side home on McGill Boulevard nine different times for reports of “noisy parties, loud music, large groups of young people causing a disturbance and fireworks being set off.”
Officers issued warning, tickets and criminal charges during the visits.
On Sunday, police say investigators learned that a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man during one of the parties. It is alleged the assault happened inside the house and was filmed by other people at the party.
Investigators also learned a neighbour had visited the house to discuss the ongoing issues and was threatened by a man.
Lethbridge police have charged 41-year-old Justin Chad Leavitt with sexual assault, sexual interference, uttering threats, causing a disturbance and 11 counts of mischief.
Leavitt is set to appear in court on Oct. 10.
