10 vehicle crash closes SE Calgary intersection, sends 6 to hospital

A southeast Calgary intersection is closed Monday following a crash involving 10 vehicles.

East and west bound Peigan Trail SE is closed between Stoney Trail and 52 Street SE, according to police.

Stuart Brideaux with EMS says crews responded to the scene around 7 a.m.

“On arrival, paramedics determined a total of 10 vehicles had been involved,” he explained. “This ranged from regular, personal passenger cars, up to larger, commercial vehicles.”

Six people have been taken to hospitals, Brideaux says. Four of those individuals are considered in stable condition, while two are in serious condition.

Officers are asking drivers to find a different route.

The intersection is expected to be closed in both directions for several hours.

This is a developing story.
