1 suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by train in Calgary

One person was seriously hurt after being hit by a train just west of Crowchild Trail late Tuesday night.

EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux tells CityNews the incident happened on the CPKC tracks in the 2400 block of Crowchild Trail.

“We responded there last night at about 10 [minutes] to midnight for reports a pedestrian had been struck by a train,” he explained.

When paramedics got there, they found a woman suffering from serious, potentially life-threatening injuries and took them to Foothills Hospital, EMS and Calgary police say.

He adds that train engineers saw the incident happen, and were able to stop the train and call for emergency medical services.

What led up to the incident is still being investigated by police.
