A 51-year-old woman is dead and several people were seriously injured after a highway crash Saturday in a rural area about 160 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
Brooks RCMP say an SUV and a pickup truck collided on Highway 36, about 8 kilometres west of Brooks, shortly before 9:30 a.m.
Both vehicles contained families with children — seven of which were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Mounties say a woman from Scandia was declared dead on the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police believe poor road conditions played a role.
