Town hall for Jasper fire evacuees goes Monday in Calgary

The City of Calgary will hold a town hall meeting Monday evening for people evacuated from the Jasper wildfires, online, by phone and in-person.

The more than 1,000 Jasper residents are welcome to attend the Shouldice Arena’s reception centre, 1515 Home Road NW, in person, between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Online access is another option, at alberta.ca/emergencies, or by phone at 1-833-380-0691.

Those people planning on attending in person, are asked to register online.

As of last week, roughly 1,300 evacuees registered in Calgary.

Officials estimate that 358 of the 1,113 total structures in Jasper, about one-third, were destroyed by fire.

The Jasper fires have burned about 32,000 hectares in the national park as of Sunday, according to Parks Canada,
