A teen girl died of injuries she sustained when she was struck by an SUV while crossing the road in the northeast Calgary community of Pineridge Wednesday afternoon, police say.
Officers responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian at 26th Avenue N.E. and Rundlehorn Drive just before 2 p.m.
Investigators say the teen was using a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the SUV.
Despite efforts from first responders to treat the girl, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene of the collision and investigators say there is no indication that speed or alcohol are factors in the incident.
No charges have been laid but police add the the investigation is ongoing.
