Small plane crashes into Calgary golf course with only pilot on board

No serious injuries were reported after a small plane crash-landed Friday at the Wingfield Golf Club in northeast Calgary.

Calgary police say it happened just before 1 p.m. at the golf course, which is just south of the Calgary International Airport.

The pilot, who according to officers was the only person on board, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the emergency landing.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says the crash is under investigation.

The TSB described the aircraft as a Piper PA-31.

Emergency crews are scattered around a green golf course with beige sand traps and the wreckage of a white plane.
