RCMP asking residents to ‘prepare to leave’ as out-of-control grass fire burns in Springbank

An out of control grass fire near Springbank Heights Drive and Springbank Heights Way is threatening residents in the area, RCMP said Thursday evening.

An out-of-control grass fire in Springbank has police warning residents to prepare to be evacuated.

In a release Thursday evening, Cochrane RCMP say the fire burning near Springbank Heights Drive and Springbank Heights Way is threatening residents in the area. 

The release says Cochrane RCMP are assisting the Calgary Fire Department with the fire.  

“There may be evacuations to come so residents are being asked to prepare to leave,” reads the statement.

People are advised not to drive through or around the area.
