Power mostly restored after ‘wildlife interference’ causes outage in northwest Calgary

Power has been restored to the majority of customers who were impacted by an outage in northwest Calgary on Tuesday morning.

At around 7:20 a.m., power went out for roughly 1,050 customers in the communities of Parkdale, Montgomery and Point McKay, according to Enmax.

A spokesperson with Enmax said power was mostly restored after 9 a.m., following the unexpected outage.

“The cause of the outage is wildlife interference,” said Enmax spokesperson Chinta Puxley.

“Thank you to our customers for their patience while our crews worked to restore power safely and quickly.”

Further details on the cause of the outage were not immediately available.

The company’s website has notices showing that it is still assessing the outages in some parts of the affected communities.
