Part of Highway 1A closed west of Calgary after serious collision

Officials, including STARS Air Ambulance, responded to the scene west of the village at 5:17 p.m. on Monday, according to an RCMP release.

Cochrane RCMP and emergency crews are on scene at a serious collision on Highway 1A near Ghost Lake Village, about 45 kilometres west of Calgary. 

Emergency responders, including STARS Air Ambulance, attended to the scene west of the village at 5:17 p.m. on Monday, according to an RCMP release. 

The Alberta RCMP integrated traffic unit alongside Cochrane RCMP are investigating the incident and have closed a portion of Highway 1A in both directions. 

Detours have been set up at Highway 1A and Morley Road, as well as Highway 1A near Jamison Road. 

The RCMP have requested that motorists avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
