Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found dead at a home in southeast Calgary on Monday morning.
Police were called to a home in the 300 block of Prestwick Terrace S.E. at about 8:25 a.m. for a reported assault, officials said in a release.
On arrival officers found one man dead.
A suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.
Police found the man about 45 minutes later at a nearby shopping plaza.
Victim, accused known to each other
Duty Insp. Scott Campbell said it’s believed the victim and suspect are known to each other but didn’t elaborate on the relationship.
Police say they are not looking for other suspects.
According to Campbell, there were others in the home at the time of the incident who called 911 and are being interviewed by investigators.
Out of an “abundance of caution,” Campbell says MacKenzie Towne School was under a brief lockdown after the suspect fled the crime scene into the community.
The lockdown was lifted after about 30 minutes.
Police said an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the manner of death.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Calgary Police Service or contact Crime Stoppers.
