Airdrie RCMP say one man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning.
The 72-year-old victim was a resident of Airdrie, who sustained life threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 2, near Edmonton Trail N.E.
RCMP said they responded to a report of the collision at approximately 1:05 a.m. on Sept. 8, alongside EMS.
The man was transported to a Calgary hospital, but later died, according to an RCMP media release.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle and four passengers were not injured.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, officials say. RCMP are asking for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have camera footage of the incident, to come forward.
