One woman is dead following a fire at a townhouse in southeast Calgary.
At around 2:50 a.m. Thursday, crews started receiving reports of a fire in the community of Legacy, according to a news release from the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) sent Thursday evening.
The release states that by the time crews arrived, the fire had already spread to the third floor of the home, and while searching the upstairs, two firefighters fell through the floor.
The firefighters were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but were released later Thursday.
When other fire crews completed the search of the home by accessing the upstairs from a neighbouring townhouse, one adult woman was found deceased in the bedroom.
Although the cause of the fire remains unclear, the CFD says there is no indication that the fire is suspicious. An investigation into the origin of the fire is ongoing.
The CFD is asking anyone who has photos or video of the fire, especially prior to the arrival of firefighters, to send an email to piofire@calgary.ca.
