Pentland: Christianity calls us to show compassion for all

Jesus’s vision was about how people treat each other and all life on the planet. He called this vision the “Kingdom of God.” It was his main purpose and ministry. He pointed to what it looks like when God is in charge: a kingdom that embodies compassion, kindness, and justice for all, not just some. Jesus offered this vision through storytelling, speaking about a place where equality, compassion, and justice reigned. He used parables, like the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son, to widen perspectives and proclaim a radical love for all, based on forgiveness, grace, and mercy.
