The lake was abandoned and snowbound. Except for a couple of whiskyjacks flitting in the pines and a legion of lenticular clouds, sleek ships sailing through a pure-blue sea, nothing moved. I had Cameron Lake, and the vast visual spectacle all around me, entirely to myself. I placed my camera on my tripod, set the timer for a photo, and slid into position on the frozen shoreline. Lights, camera, action! Well, to be honest, not much action. And that’s the point. Therein lies the beauty of Waterton in winter.
