Airdrie is among the more ideal places to call home, a new study has found. The report by Point2Homes looked at cities across Canada, scoring them by metrics such as livability that includes, among other measures, benchmark prices and monthly rent, and work intensity, which includes commute times and the ability to work from home, along with other data.
Airdrie ranked second best among Prairie cities — though no municipality from the region ranked in the top 20 in Canada.

Topping the list nationally was Levis, Que., with a total score of 69.61 out of 100.
The highest ranking Prairie municipal region was Strathcona County, which includes Sherwood Park near Edmonton, with a score of 52.88.
Airdrie, in second spot for the region, had a score of 52.61. That placed the community north of Calgary in 52nd spot among 97 Canadian cities and municipalities.
Sarnia, Ont., ranked last with a score 36, followed by Grande Prairie and Medicine Hat at 37.33 and 37.42 respectively.
Those cities ranked poorly on health and well being, and work intensity, but fared better on liveability.
Calgary also scored well on liveability — though it ranked 62nd among all cities with a total score of 49.7, rating poorly on work intensity. Somewhat curiously, Vancouver ranked 27th in Canada with a score of 59.67, in large part due to receiving high marks for health and well being, which includes stress levels, life expectancy and life satisfaction.
Yet it also scored higher than Calgary even for liveability.
Among the Prairies, Calgary ranked fifth out of 10 cities and municipalities.
Edmonton ranked eighth with a 44.06 rating.
Lethbridge was last among cities in the region with a 42.27 score, just ahead of Winnipeg at 43.64.
The study noted that Calgary and Airdrie stood out among Prairie region cities with 66 per cent of respondents noting they were in excellent health.
