Police say speed was a factor in a crash in northeast Calgary earlier this week that has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.
Calgary police say officers noticed a motorcycle without a license plate travelling westbound on 32 Avenue NE near 6 Street NE around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.
Police allege the motorcycle continue to travel westbound on 32 Ave after noticing the nearby officers. As the motorcycle was approaching 6 Street NE, a car travelling southbound was attempting to turn eastbound onto 32 Avenue NE.
It is alleged the motorcycle went through a red light and struck the turning car.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition where he remains. The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
