Police looking for SUV that struck man in wheelchair in SE Calgary hit-and-run

Police are trying to find a driver who allegedly struck a man in a wheelchair with his vehicle in southeast Calgary and then fled.

Calgary police say a man was hit by an SUV near 162 Avenue SE and Shawville Blvd SE around 1:55 p.m. on Sept. 30.

The impact of the crash caused the wheelchair to tip over. The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is alleged the driver left the area and did not report the collision police.

Police have released a security image of a maroon or dark-coloured SUV that was last seen heading westbound on 162 Avenue SE.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the crash, are being urged to contact police.
