Suspects sought in ‘brazen’ daylight shooting in downtown Calgary

Police are trying to find two suspects after a daylight shooting in a busy area of downtown Calgary last week that left a man injured.

Emergency crews were called to an area of 5 Avenue SE near the Calgary Drop-In Centre on Oct. 2 around 5:25 p.m.

Investigators allege an argument broke out between a group of people and two of them fired guns at the same person.

Police arrived to find a man in his 30s with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.

The suspects left the area before officers arrived.

After reviewing security footage, police are asking for help identifying two suspects and have released photos of the pair.

“Although this shooting is believed to have been targeted, it was a brazen display of violence that put many Calgarians at risk,” reads a release from Calgary police.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police at 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
