A stretch of Calgary Transit’s Red Line will be closed this weekend to make way for repairs and maintenance around the two Stampede stations.
No CTrains will run between City Hall/Bow Valley College and 39 Avenue stations on Saturday and Sunday, but Calgary Transit says shuttle buses will replace train service between the two stations.
There will be no impact to Blue Line trains and train service is expected to return by Monday morning.
The closure will make way for repair and maintenance, including concrete work at Erlton/Stampede station testing of the tracks between Erlton/Stampede and Victoria Park/Stampede.
Some final work is also being done this weekend on the Victoria Park/Stampede station rebuild which means some road closures in the area.
The pedestrian crossing at Macleod Trail and 17 Avenue SE will be closed, pedestrians will need to detour to 12 Avenue SE to get into Stampede Park.
The city says a stretch of 17 Avenue SE is also being closed to repaint the road and put up new signs, because when it reopens on Monday it will once again be a two-way road.
That short section of road has only allowed for westbound traffic during the CTrain work.
In early October, when the Victoria Park/Stampede rebuild is fully complete, drivers will be able to use 17 Avenue SE to drive into Stampede Park.
