Calgary teen facing slew of charges in violent crime spree near Edmonton

A Calgary teen is facing a number of charges after a violent crime spree in a rural area southwest of Edmonton on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the village of Warburg, around 75 kilometres southwest of Edmonton, around 7:45 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Officers arrived to find someone with serious injuries and while they were helping the victim they were allegedly approached by an aggressive person who began spitting on them.

That person turned out to be the stabbing suspect and was arrested at the scene, according to RCMP.

Investigators later learned a second person was slashed after they tried to help the initial victim. The second victim and his wife were also allegedly threatened by the suspect.

Investigators also learned the suspect had recently gotten into a fight with a group of teenage boys where he allegedly assault one and threatened all three of them.

Finally, investigators learned the suspect tried to rob a local market, breaking a computer in the process.

Calgary resident Courtland Horan-Oickle, 18, is facing nine charges including three counts of assault and three counts of uttering threats.

He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
