Residents north of Strathmore asked to shelter due to armed and ‘extremely dangerous’ suspects

Residents in a rural area east of Calgary are being asked to shelter in place due to armed and dangerous suspects.

According to an Alberta emergency alert sent just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, there are two “armed and extremely dangerous suspects” in the area of Highway 564 and Range Road 252 in Wheatland County.

RCMP say officers are at the scene and have issued a shelter in place for area residents from Highway 564 north to Township 262, and between Range Road 253 and Range Road 251.

“Containment has been set up and police need everyone to stay away,” reads a release from Strathmore RCMP.

People are being urged to close and lock their homes and not answer their doors.
