Calgary man dies in Saskatchewan semi truck collision

Police in Saskatchewan say a Calgary man has died after a crash between two semi trucks on Monday morning.

Indian Head RCMP say around 7:40 a.m. on Aug. 5, officers received reports of a collision on Highway 1 near Wolseley, Sask.

An investigation found a semi hit a second hemi that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

Police say no one was in the parked semi but there were two people in the other truck.

The passenger, identified as a 35-year-old Calgary man, was declared dead by EMS at the scene. RCMP say his family has been notified.

The male driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The highway was closed during the initial investigation but has since reopened.

Indian Head RCMP continue to investigate the crash with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

Anyone who may have seen the collision, or captured dashcam footage of it, is asked to call Indian Head RCMP at 310-RCMP.
