Police looking for man who allegedly attacked woman at Calgary dog park

Calgary police are asking for help from the public to identify a man they believe assaulted a woman at a southeast park earlier this week.

Investigators say on Wednesday, April 10 around 12:30 p.m., a woman was walking her dog near the north end of Sue Higgins Park in the area of 9770 15 Street SE.

At the same time, a dog belonging to a man who was also at the park allegedly attacked the woman’s dog, police say.

The man and woman began to argue, according to investigators, and the woman tried to record the interaction on her phone when the man allegedly knocked the phone out of her hand before pushing her to the ground and physically assaulting her.

Police add that the woman screamed, and the man picked up her cellphone off the ground and threw it over a fence before leaving in an unknown direction.

The victim received medical attention for her injuries and reported the incident to police the next day.

Investigators describe the man has having a light complexion, about 50 years old and 5’8″ to 6′ tall, with a slim build and short black and grey hair.

He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a baseball cap, brown khaki pants, and grey runners.

Police don’t have a photo of the suspect but have released a picture of his dog.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
