Man in 70s dead after car rolls several times in SW Calgary

An elderly man is dead after a car rolled over several times in an early morning crash in southwest Calgary.

Emergency crews responded to a crash around 5:30 a.m. near Anderson Road SW and Tsuut’ina Trail SW.

Police say a 2008 grey Nissan Altima was heading westbound on Anderson when the driver lost control where the road bends south and turns into Buffalo Run Boulevard SW.

The car continued west and left the road before crashing into a retaining wall. The car rolled several times before coming to a stop, according several times.

The driver, a 78-year-old man, was found outside of the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The ramp from westbound Anderson Road to southbound Tsuut’ina Trail was closed for four hours for the investigation.

Westbound Anderson Road SW was closed due to the crash on the ramp to southbound Tsuut’ina Trail for about four hours.

Investigators do not believe speed or impairment were factors in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
