Tornado warning downgraded as thunderstorms hit southern Alberta

At 7:43 p.m., Environment Canada is tracking a severe thunderstorm that could bring damaging winds, large hail and intense rainfall. It comes after a tornado warning was downgraded.

Warning for possible tornadoes downgraded as storms move east

Environment Canada has downgraded its tornado warning for parts of southern Alberta as a severe thunderstorm moves east across the province. 

At 7:43 P.M., the weather agency said it was tracking a severe thunderstorm that could bring damaging winds, large hail and intense rainfall.

The warning is currently in affect for: 

Earlier on Sunday night a tornado warning had also been issued for the M.D. of Willow Creek near Nanton and Parkland, but was downgraded to a severe thunderstorm watch. 

Calgary, Airdrie, and Crossfield were also under severe thunderstorm warnings as of 7:18 p.m. At the time the alert was issued, a thunderstorm was located 15 kilometres west of Airdrie and was moving 20 km/h to the southeast. 

Environment Canada says northeast parts of Calgary will be affected by the storm. Officials recommend taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
