An investigation is underway following a fire west of Calgary overnight.
Battalion Chief Alistair Robin tells CityNews it happened at a barn in Valley Ridge.
“Just after 1:30 this morning, Calgary 9-1-1 received several calls from neighbours and people travelling on the Trans Canada Highway reporting a very large fire,” he explained.
By the time emergency crews arrived, a barn on the property was fully engulfed in flames.
Robin says battling the blaze was a challenge.
“There isn’t any water supply out there, so we had to bring a few extra resources on hand just to make sure we had enough water to extinguish the fire,” he said.
First responders managed to keep the fire from spreading to a house nearby, Robin adds.
No one was home at the time, and no injuries have been reported.
Investigators remain at the scene.
