Special caution for grizzly bears in Moraine Lake: Parks Canada

Parks Canada is warning Moraine Lake visitors to be “bear aware.”

A special bulletin was issued Thursday warning people of grizzly bears in the Moraine Lake parking lot and day-use area.

It will be in effect until further notice.

The caution also includes Lakeside Trail, Consolation Lakes Trail, and area.

This comes as a video was shared on Reddit of a bear in the parking lot just days ago.

Parks officials advise people to pay attention to bears when travelling in the area.

They are asking visitors to travel in groups, make plenty of noise while hiking, carry bear spray and know how to use it, and keep any dogs they have leashed.

Parks Canada asks those visiting who happen to spot a bear to call Banff dispatch at 403-762-1470.
