Summer is fast approaching, and if you’re looking for a new spot to relax and grab a bite in the sunshine, you may just want to check out this stunning rooftop patio.
Connie & John’s Rooftop has officially taken over the space previously occupied by Rooftop Bar @ Simmons in Calgary’s East Village, and we had the chance to check it out.
The spot is the first dine-in location for Connie & John’s Pizza, brought to life by chefs Connie DeSousa and John Jackson.
What sets the patio apart is the incredible panoramic views of both downtown Calgary and the Bow River from its location on top of the Simmons Building.
The location serves the entire Connie & John’s pizza menu, featuring New York-style pies with a foldable crust and Detroit-style deep-dish pizzas with golden edges and crispy cheese.
We tried out the best-selling John’s Pepperoni, and it was truly everything you’d want from a good pepperoni pizza with perfectly crispy pepperoni cups and plenty of mozzarella. The pepperoni is also made in-house for an extra treat.
Another favourite was Connie’s Loaded, one of the deep-dish pizzas, which is topped with ham, pepperoni, mushrooms, and mozzarella. These pizzas are made in a traditional blue steel pan with extremely crispy, cheesy edges and a pillowy soft centre.
Along with pizza, Connie & John’s Rooftop features a full raw bar with snacks like fresh shucked oysters.
Of course, no good patio comes without a wide selection of drinks. As well as some delicious cocktails to sip on, you can also get your hands on Connie and John’s beer. Both alcohol and non-alcoholic versions are available and were crafted in collaboration with Village Brewery.
The patio is open depending on the weather, but if you need a hint, Connie & John’s iconic yellow flag will be waving from the rooftop when the spot is open, so keep your eyes peeled.
