Wednesday wasn’t a typical day for Alberta’s SPCA team — as they worked to wrangle a large, flightless bird native to Australia.
An emu was on the run in the southern part of the province, the group said on Facebook, and after a quick animal welfare check at a vet, the bird was taken to a caretaking facility.
Alberta SPCA says the big bird is in a facility that has other emus so “he’s in a good place.”
