Police have identified the victim of Calgary’s eighth murder that happened in southeast Forest Lawn on Thursday.
The Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the victim as 16-year-old Calgarian Dean Visser.
This comes as Calgary police charged a 17-year-old on Saturday with first-degree murder.
“This tragic incident didn’t need to happen. My condolences go out to the victim’s family,” S Sgt. Sean Gregson said in a news release.
“The impact of an incident like this has a ripple effect through the community. I sympathize with family and friends who have been shaken by this tragic loss.”
Police say the incident happened on 41 Street SE on June 7, with police saying they received reports of a fight involving a weapon at around 7 p.m.
