A man drowned at a lake in Strathmore Thursday evening, RCMP say.
Police explain just after 7 p.m. Thursday, Strathmore RCMP were dispatched to Kinsmen Lake for reports if a man struggling in the lake and then disappearing below the surface.
Bystanders tried to help, but weren’t successful, according to RCMP.
Police and members of the Strathmore Fire Department went to the scene with divers, but were not able to find the man due to light and visibility issues.
Recovery efforts are underway.
Residents are asked to avoid the area so first responders can continue to work.
