Canadians are having some fun with U.S. fans after picking up a 3-2 win last night to win the 4 Nations Face-Off.
This game had some extremely high stakes. Not only was it the first best-on-best tournament in nearly a decade, but there was also some major pride given some of the political happenings as of late. Canadian fans have been ecstatic since the moment Connor McDavid scored the overtime winner, and that includes Montreal sportscaster Tony Marinaro.
Marinaro, who hosts The Sick Podcast and a daily segment on BPM Sports, decided to get in on the fun last night, hopping on Boston Sports Radio show Jones and Keefe in what turned out to be a hilarious prank call.
“Hey guys. I can’t believe we lost that game tonight,” said Marinaro, who identified himself as ‘Curly.’ “As usual, we get owned by Canada, like 90 per cent of the time we play them. It’s their game, guys. We just have to admit it.”
He also then went on to take further jabs at the U.S., suggesting they don’t have the skill that Canada does in order to be able to compete with them.
“We don’t have a Connor McDavid, we don’t have a Sidney Crosby, we don’t have a Cale Makar, we don’t have a Nathan MacKinnon! What do we have? We have Auston Matthews; he disappears in every big game. He goes into the corner, goes to get a guy to make it a three on one, and we leave the best player in the world, Connor McJesus, all alone in the slot. We don’t know how to play hockey, man!”

The hosts seemed to be taken aback by the passion from “Curly” but have since had a good laugh at the incident. It will be interesting to see if Marinaro has another trick up his sleeve should Canada go on to win the 2026 Winter Olympics.
