‘The Last of Us’ season two release date officially unveiled

In just under two months, fans of The Last of Us TV series will finally see how Joel and Ellie’s story unfolds.

HBO has officially unveiled the release date for the second season of the hit series, and it will begin airing on April 13.

We previously reported that the release month would be April so the show could qualify for nominations for the Emmy Awards.

Along with the release date announcement, HBO has also unveiled some cool new art for the show featuring Ellie. A second piece of art features Abby, a new character for TV show viewers but a familiar face for folks who have played the video game The Last of Us Part II.

There’s also a version that features Joel.

Each post has the tagline, “Every path has a price,” and video game players will know exactly what that means.

The first season ends with quite a turn, and there are spoilers ahead if you didn’t get to watch it. While it’s not necessarily a cliffhanger, Ellie asks Joel a very simple question. That question comes after Joel rescues Ellie from a hospital where she is scheduled to get surgery that would extract the cure for humanity. However, that surgery would kill her. Joel doesn’t want Ellie to die, and he makes questionable choices in rescuing her.

After she wakes up from anesthesia, Joel offers an excuse as to what actually happened. Fast forward a tiny bit, and she asks Joel if everything he told her was the truth. He looks her right in the eyes and lies, and the show fades to black. This is just one of the intriguing plot threads that will be explored in the second season of the HBO series.

Vancouver/B.C. fans of the show will be watching the series with very different eyes from viewers in other parts of the world as they try to recognize local landmarks, with much of the show being filmed in the city and province. We could see more than just SkyTrain cameos.

It’s a pretty killer slate for HBO coming up this spring, as the second season of The Last of Us will release after the hotly anticipated third season of The White Lotus.
