Primary duties of the Law Summer student position include reviewing archived research products generated by the Law department, analyzing them for retention and migration to new software, and assisting in data input and analysis of Community Court proceedings.
Primary duties of the Information Management Analyst Student involve providing support with organizing and managing physical records, supporting and managing the filing of electronic records, and supporting projects identified by Facilities, such as a repository and system for drawing-based records.
The Pathway & Trails Inventory Technical Student will assist the Mobility subject matter experts in carrying out projects and tasks related to the inventory, status, monitoring, and assessment of Mobility natural and physical assets (for example, trees, vegetation, habitats, pathways, trails, benches, and garbage cans). Primary duties will include data collection using iPad, ArcGIS online, and ArcGIS desktop. Data collected could include things like the collection of image data related to pathway conditions, either through mounted cameras or via device cameras for inspection.
Duties for the Traffic Signals Engineering Summer Student position include tasks like simulating traffic in Synchro and SimTraffic, both for base models as well as signalized corridor reviews, conducting traffic studies (field and/or video-based), and providing support for Signal Engineers (service request investigation, template creation, report writing/ editing, filing, etc.)
If you snag this job, you’ll be tasked with duties like tree data collection using iPad, ArcGIS online, and ArcGIS desktop. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in field observations related to varied research projects, collect data on any other physical or natural attribute related to a Parks asset or Parks sites, like boulevard or planting site width, planting location type, and utilize tree identification skills to update inventory on public lands.
The Communications Summer Student with the City of Calgary holds primary duties such as collaborating with a team of experienced communicators on various projects to share information and promote City of Calgary events, services, policies and initiatives, assisting with gathering metrics for communication reports, and liaising between clients and functional teams such as social media, web, media relations, and marketing (submitting requests, editing, and approvals).
You will research and gather data regarding dog and cat bite incidents in the city, by using a database and anecdotal information from members of the public at events. You’ll also analyze data to determine trends, similarities, and opportunities, and translate analysis to enhance the current dog bite prevention program, Wise Whiskers.
